Aston is an employment relations advocate, mediator and workplace investigator with more than 35 years' experience advising organisations throughout New Zealand. As Principal Consultant of Principled Limited, he assists employers and employees with employment advocacy, investigations, mediation, privacy, restructures and complex workplace disputes.
Prior to establishing Principled Limited, Aston served as Chief People Officer for Briscoe Group and held senior HR and executive leadership positions with Woolworths/Countdown, New Zealand Post, Fonterra, SkyCity, and Manukau Institute of Technology. His experience spans collective bargaining, disciplinary and performance processes, restructures, executive advisory work and strategic people leadership.
Aston holds a Master of Legal Studies (Distinction), a Master of Philosophy (Honours) in Management Studies and Employment Relations, is an Associate of AMINZ, a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and is licensed under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act. He is recognised for providing practical, balanced and commercially sound advice that helps parties navigate difficult workplace issues with confidence.
